Poets in the making at RPA networking

'We try to keep the networking functions interesting.'

The Randfontein Publicity Association’s (RPA) April networking function was about being creative and bringing in an element of mystery and fun for the members.

“We try to keep the networking functions interesting so for this month we asked members to write a poem that would describe their business,” said Joy Hamann, RPA publicity officer.

“I read the poems members had submitted and the others had to guess what kind of business it was and who the business owner was.”

The invitation to the function also was slightly poetic:

Did you know

We organise the Show

We have a heart for charity

So if you ever need clarity

Give us a shout and

We’ll tell you what we’re all about.

We plan to keep it light and fun

So come and join us for some soup and a bun

Grab a drink from the bar

Relax and tell us who you are

Tell us what you do

You never know who may want to do business with you.

If you don’t have time or don’t know what to do

Just send some key words and we’ll prepare a poem for you.

“The evening was a lot of fun and the event certainly highlighted the budding poets in our midst,” said Joy.

It was light-hearted and I think it made it a lot easier for members to talk to one another because the ice had been broken by fun and laughter.”
