UPDATE: Construction of Tambotie Mall to commence in mid-May

So far the mall will include an upmarket Checkers Blue Line store, Woolworths clothing, textiles and food, a huge Dischem and a Planet Fitness.

Jimmy Pappas, who brought the dream of the new Tambotie Mall in Randfontein to life, spoke to the Herald about the progress of the mall.

The Tambotie Mall, which is scheduled to open in April 2017 has been the talk of the town and residents are positive and excited about this new development.

“After the sod–turning ceremony on 6 April, progress has been fast and everything is going according to plan. Construction is scheduled to start mid-May,” Pappas said.

Workers have been busy cleaning and leveling the property and also preparing platforms for the construction of the mall.

Pappas says they are extremely fortunate to have good soil on the property. Benefiting the people of Randfontein is high on Pappas’s list and he already started doing so by donating the soil from his property to local companies and individuals that can put it to good use.

So far the mall will include an upmarket Checkers Blue Line store, Woolworths clothing, textiles and food, a huge Dischem and a Planet Fitness, Ackermans, Pep stores, Crazy Plastics, a Kentucky drive thru and Mug and Bean.

Pappas’s feedback from the community has been nothing but positive as residents realise this mall is going to add great value to the town.

As soon as construction starts, it is known that these contractors normally facilitate local labour, which means job creation.

“These are temporary jobs, but as soon as the mall opens, there will be great job opportunities for Randfontein residents.”

Pappas would like to express his thanks to the Randfontein Local Municipality’s Heads of Departments, the Municipal Manager, Mzi Khumalo (Randfontein Executive Mayor) and all officials for their involvement, help and positive attitude towards this project. He also thanked Mpho Nawa (West Rand District Municipal Mayor) for his input, assistance and prayers. Pappas also thanked the Herald, for being the bearer of good and positive news in the town.

Pappas, is confident and excited when he speaks of all the positive changes Tambotie Mall will bring to residents, the property market, the Municipality and to Randfontein in the whole.

“Randfontein will become a better destination, and not just a one horse town.” says Pappas.
