Traffic police chief warns: Obey bylaws or else …

'We need to take back our town.'

The Randfontein Traffic Police as well as the Randfontein Police went on a by-law enforcement drive.

The traffic police was visited by their higher ups on Wednesday, subsequently members of the police and traffic police paraded outside the Public Safety offices in Toekomsrus, awaiting the instruction for the day’s crime clean-up.

Randfontein Traffic Chief, Kenny Mampondo addressed the parade of officers and reminded them that they are law enforcement and that no nonsense should be taken when it comes to the law and the safety of the town.

There’s no nonsense here, we are here to enforce the law.

“We need to take back our town. We need to sweep the CBD and taxi ranks of crime,” he said.

The object of the clean-up was to enforce bylaws that Mampondo said are so often broken which included hawkers illegally selling goods on the side of the road as well as men and women on the side of the street cutting and doing hair in front of shops in the CBD.

Various locations were visited in Randfontein where police and traffic police inspected taxis and location to make sure they are adhering to Randfontein’s bylaws as well as checking for no illegal activity.
