Knock on door at 3am, then robbers attack couple

Police: They demanded money.

A man, 30, was stabbed with a knife after five intruders had broken down the door to his Groot Elandsvlei home recently.

The victim told police he and his wife were awoken by a knock on the door. He then went to investigate and was confronted by five unknown suspects, who broke down the door to gain access.

According to Captain Appel Ernst, Randfontein Police spokesperson, “They started assaulting the victim and he was stabbed with a knife. They demanded money.

The victim’s wife managed to run away while the suspects took cash and a pair of running shoes. They fled the scene.”

Responding to the complaint, two suspects were arrested shortly after the incident and detained at Randfontein Police.

The suspects, aged 23 and 24, briefly appeared in the Randfontein Magistrates’ Court but the case was remanded.
