Truck crash victim freed by Jaws of Life

ER24: Rescue medics had to use the jaws-of-life to free the patient.

A woman in her 30s was left seriously injured after he car t-boned a truck on the Ventersdorp Road in Tarlton on Tuesday morning.

According to Russel Meiring, ER24 spokesperson, “ER24 paramedics, along with metro services arrived on the scene and found the wrecked light motor vehicle parked on the side of the road.

On inspection, paramedics found the female driver trapped inside her vehicle in a serious condition, having sustained serious injuries to her neck and back.

“ER24 rescue medics had to use jaws-of-life equipment to free the patient from the vehicle, having to remove the driver’s side of the vehicle.

“Once freed, paramedics treated the patient and provided her with advanced life support interventions. The patient was thereafter transported to a private hospital for further treatment. Fortunately, no-one from the truck sustained any injuries.”

Local authorities will be investigating the cause of the collision.
