How to identify a suspect

Did he or she have a high or low pitched voice?

It’s always good to know what to remember about a suspect if you ever have to describe him or her to the police.

Being vigilant and making a point of remembering these details could assist the police in catching the suspect and preventing another crime from taking place.

Here are a few pointers to remember when identifying a suspect:

• His head gear – whether he wore a hat, a beanie, golf cap or balaclava
• If he has any facial scars or marks
• Trademarks on clothes
• Tattoo’s – what they are and where they are situated
• The type of jewelry worn
• If he/she was carrying any weapons
• The suspects hair colour and style
• Whether the suspects has a beard, moustache or clean shaven face
• Is he/she wearing a long/short t- shirt, shirt or jacket
• Was the suspect wearing any gloves
• Complexion, build and height of suspect
• What kind of pants was worn? Shorts, denim or tracksuit pants
• What kind of shoes did the suspect wear and what colour
• If the suspect spoke, did he have an accent
• Did he or she have a high or low pitched voice
