Biker seriously injured in crash

ER24: The man had been flung over the vehicle in the collision.

A man in his 30s sustained critically injuries after his motorcycle collided with the side of a light motor vehicle on the R559 outside of Carletonville on Wednesday morning.

“Both motorcycle and vehicle was found in the middle of the road. On inspection, paramedics found the motorcycle driver lying a few metres away from the other vehicle.

“It is understood the man had been flung over the vehicle in the collision, also causing his helmet to come off in the process.

On assessment, paramedics found the patient was in a critical condition, with serious fractures and injuries to most of his body.

“Paramedics treated the man and provided him with advanced life support interventions. Once treated, the patient was airlifted by the ER24 medical helicopter to a nearby hospital for urgent treatment,” said ER24 spokesperson, Russel Meiring.

The driver of the light motor vehicle fortunately escaped without injury. Local authorities were on scene for further investigations.
