Armed robbers strike again in R’fontein suburb

Four men, one of which was armed, held up a shop in Mohlakeng.

In another armed robbery case, a 21-year-old shopkeeper was held up and robbed in broad daylight in Mohlakeng extension 11.

The incident took place on Monday, 7 March.

According to Captain Appel Ernst, Randfontein Police spokesperson, the victim allegedly received new stock on the day when four unknown men entered the shop.

Ernst said it was alleged one of the the suspects went to the counter, pretending to be a customer.

The suspect requested merchandise that was kept behind the counter and when the victim handed it over, he suddenly was facing a firearm,” Ernst said.

The other three suspects also went to the counter and took money and cellphones from the victim’s shop. The suspects fled on foot. Fortunately no shots were fired and no injuries were sustained during the robbery.
