Nowhere to hide from the police

Cluster general: Well done, team.

The Krugersdorp Cluster Police in February arrested six suspects short of 300 after a weekend of crime-prevention operations.

Suspects were arrested for the following serious crimes:

• Murder

• Possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition

• Rape

• Assault with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm

• Malicious damage to property

• Theft

• House robbery

• Pointing a firearm

• Child neglect

• Driving under the influence

• Culpable homicide

• Common robbery

Suspects were arrested for the following minor crimes:

• Common assault

• Trespassing

• Drunkenness

• Illegal railway crossing

According to Constable Lucky Matome, Krugersdorp Cluster Police spokesperson, the majority of the suspects will appear before the Randfontein, Kagiso and Krugersdorp Magistrates’ Courts soon.

Among the suspects arrested, a 44-year-old man was arrested for murder at the Randfontein dumping site on Saturday 20 February.

He allegedly assaulted the victim with a knobkerrie on his head,” Matome said.

It is believed the deceased was having drinks with the suspect and other friends when a quarrel broke out between the victim and suspect. Police are not clear about what had started the argument. The deceased allegedly pulled a knife on the suspect when he was assaulted with a knobkerrie and later died on the scene.

Major General Anna Mateisi thanked all members of the police involved in the various operations conducted across the cluster.

She said, “Without all of you, these operations wouldn’t be as successful as they are. Well done, team.”
