ATM bombers strike

Police: An undisclosed amount of money was taken.

ATM bombers have struck in Greenhills making off with an undisclosed amount of money on Monday morning.

The Herald has been informed the incident took place at around 3.16am where a Standard Bank ATM at the Greenhills circle was targeted by five male suspects.

It is alleged that five suspects, all male, driving a silver BMW with an unknown registration number bombed the ATM. This ATM is mounted on the outside wall of Tony’s Meat Market.

“An undisclosed amount of money was taken,” confirmed Constable Lucky Matome, spokesperson for the Corporate Communication Krugersdorp Cluster.

Matome added the suspects allegedly shot at the security reaction vehicles on scene nine times, fortunately not injuring anybody.

Randfontein Police is investigating a case of ATM bombing.

Bev Pita, manager at Tony’s Meat Market added they do have CCTV footage but unfortunately it is blurry.

Ronny Edwards, who gets his supplies from Tony’s Meat Market said the responding security company was EPR.
