UPDATE: Alleged baby abuser arrested
Police: The investigation is continuing.
The man, 27, who is accused of alleged baby abuse has been apprehended.
The three-weeks-old baby died early on Wednesday morning. Police were looking for the father of the infant in question and arrested him earlier today (Thursday).
“On 12 February a case of child abuse (assault to cause grievous bodily harm) was reported in Randfontein. It is alleged that a three-week-old baby was taken to a local hospital with bruises.
The infant was hospitalised and his condition deteriorated. He was placed on life support and died in the early hours of 17 February,” said Captain Appel Ernst, Randfontein Police spokesperson.
The investigation is continuing.
