A man wanted for numerous house robbery and murder cases has been arrested in Mohlakeng, Randfontein Police said.
According to Captain Appel Ernst, Randfontein Police spokesperson, the man was arrested in the early hours one Thursday morning in December during an intelligence driven operation.
“Members of the Randfontein Detectives, Trio Task team and West Rand K9 unit targeted the Mohlakeng Hostel at 4am. A suspect who is reported to be terrorising the Mohlakeng community was noticed in the Mohlakeng Hostel area. Information was spot on and the suspect also was found with an unlicensed firearm, a magazine and rounds in his possession.
He is linked to at least six cases of robbery in the Mohlakeng and Randfontein area alone. Positive linkages to a house robbery and murder in Culemborgpark in April 2015 also are being investigated.
“A second suspect, a woman, also was arrested during this operation for the possession of an unlicensed firearm,” said Ernst.
The investigating officer, Lt Col Kruger is urgently requesting any person who has been the victim of a man, known by the street name “Poiysa” to contact him.
It is possible that some of the victims did not report crimes that were committed against them due to intimidation.
