Over 140 motorists brought to book

Traffic police chief: A total number of 145 motorists felt the might of the law.

Kenny Mampondo, Randfontein Traffic Police chief has released the successes during the Arrive Alive campaign and major roadblock held on the R28 recently.

“A total number of 145 motorists felt the might of the Law Enforcement Officers during the roadblock,” said Mampondo.

These are the charges:

• 33 was fined for driving without a drivers license;

• 41 for expired license disks;

• 13 for worn tyres;

• 11 for defect lights;

• 47 for other defects on vehicles namely, hooters and parking brakes.

Mampondo added, “The roadblock was very successful and that motorists are more aware of the severity of not abiding to the rules of the road.

“We are ready for the festive season and motorist should ensure that their vehicles and licences are in perfect order and place when travelling.”
