Police ready for 16 days of activism

Police: Get involved and count yourself in.

The Randfontein Police are all systems go for 16 Days of Activism and they are calling the community to get involved.

The theme for 2015 is Count me in: Together Moving a Non-violent South Africa Forward.

According to Captain Appel Ernst, spokesperson for the Randfontein Police, “This campaign is commemorated as part of the 365 Days of Activism which is a continuous campaign that raises awareness on violence against women and children and mobilises individuals to be counted in the year-long activism.”

The Randfontin Police are calling all residents to support the campaign and to use the 16 days to partner with government to end violence against women and children.

The Randfontein Police will be involving all communities in the area during their 16 Days programme.

The Randfontein police have already put two suspects behind bars who have either assaulted or killed women in town. The first was Zola Ndika who assaulted a 23-year-old female. Ndika got eight years imprisonment for the assault as well as the stabbing of a middle-aged man.

The second was Percy Wales who stabbed and killed his life-partner. He got 18 years imprisonment for his crimes.
