Community rally against cancer

Various community members and leaders supported the cause.

The Cancer Association of South Africa (CANSA) hosted their annual all-night Relay for Life and brought the town together for this worthy cause on Friday, 27 November.

The event’s theme was a kaleidoscope of colours. It began at 6pm that day and ended at 6am on Saturday, 28 November.

The event is international and has been running across the globe since 1984.

All the proceeds of the event will go to CANSA to deliver services to cancer patients in Randfontein and surrounding areas.

At the opening of the event over 100 cancer survivors took to the Greenhills Stadium running track and did a victory lap. This was used as a metaphor for the brave survivors overcoming cancer. The survivors were the guests of honour.

Various community members and leaders showed to the event in support of the organisation and survivors.

The Randfontein DA caucus, Mapogo Security, Quick Response Service (QRS) as well as Ben Morgenrood were just some of the big names that showed their support at the event.
