Man found guilty of murdering girlfriend

Boyfriend, aged 37, sentenced to 15 imprisonment.

A man who stabbed his girlfriend to death has been found guilty of murder.

The Westonaria Regional Court last Tuesday found Siyabonga Ngcanashe, 37, guilty of murder and sentenced him to 15 years direct imprisonment.

“This came after the accused, Siyabonga Ngcanana brutally killed his girlfriend on 20 January at their residence in Westonaria. It is alleged an argument ensued between the accused and the deceased.

The accused stabbed the vulnerable and harmless woman several times with a knife in her chest. She died on the scene,” said Captain Siphiwe Ndlovo, spokesperson for the Westonaria Police.

The accused was then arrested and appeared in the Westonaria regional court several times since 28 January.

It was a huge relief for the investigating Warrant officer Ali Motlhale when he heard that Ngcanana will not be in the community for much longer.

The lengthy sentence sent a strong message to other heartless criminals that crime simply does not pay.

The Westonaria station commander thanked Warrant officer Ali Motlhale, Constable Vhonani Masuvhe and Constable Thulani Radebe for commendable hard work, dedication and taking this case to the end.
