Retail store hit by three armed robbers

Police: She was continuously threatened with the firearms and forced to open the till.

A retail store in Union Street, Randgate became the latest target of an armed robbery.

Captain Appel Ernst, Randfontein Police spokesperson confirmed the incident took place at around 9.45am on Wednesday 4 November.

The 42-year-old manager alleged that while busy unpacking cellphones, three men entered the shop. All of them were armed. One of them approached her, pointing the firearm at her.

“The suspect demanded keys to access the cellular shelves. She was threatened with the firearms continuously and forced to open the till and the cellular shelves. The suspects removed cash and cellphones from the shop and then also robbed the staff of their belongings such as jewellery.

“The suspects then fled the scene. No shots were fired and no serious injuries were sustained during the incident.”
