Man dies two months after dog attack

Police now searching for the deceased's next of kin.

A man believed to be in his late 50s died as a result of being bitten by a dog, Bekkersdal Police said.

The man was found on Thursday, 9 July and later died on Wednesday, 9 September – exactly two months later.

According to sergeant Linkie Lefakane, spokesperson for the Bekkersdal Police, “The man was found near the N12 in Zuurbekom near Bonzela by Emergency Services (EMS).

They found the man had sustained multiple dog bite wounds.

“The deceased’s fingerprints were obtained and his information suggests that he could possibly be from Grootvlei in Springs. The police have both the name and surname of the deceased.”
