Armed robbers target takeaway shop

Nobody was injured but they got away allegedly with R1 000.

Triods Café – a takeaway shop on Main Reef Road – has become the latest target for armed robbers.

The Herald was informed the incident occurred at around 11.30am on Tuesday.

A visibly shaken Abdu Qaywm, who has been working there for two months claims,

Two men came into the shop where one of the suspects bought a packet of chips. They then left but returned two minutes later.”

On return they allegedly approached him and one of the suspects went behind the counter. The other suspect held the cashier at gunpoint, telling him to open the till and give him all the money.

It is believed the suspects fled on foot. Qaywm then pressed the panic button where EPR Security arrived shortly thereafter.

Nobody was injured but they got away allegedly with R1 000. Qaywm added the Café has been robbed before.

The Randfontein Police is yet to comment on the matter.
