Municipality to put things right

Municipality responds vigorously to much talked about car accident.

The Randfontein Local Municipality responded vigorously to the much talked about car accident and chaos at the corner of Lark Crescent and Kanfer Street last week.

Last Monday evening two vehicles were involved in a T-bone collision.

The driver of the one vehicle was heading up Kanfer Street but failed to notice the stop street ahead and crossed Lark Crescent. The driver then T-boned the other vehicle and both crashed into a palisade fence. One person allegedly had to be transported to hospital to be treated.

Those involved argue that at this intersection the faded white lines are not visible on the road and there is no stop sign in sight. They therefore blame the municipality.

A furious resident of Lark Crescent said,

We have contacted the municipality several times regarding this issue, but nothing ever gets done.”

The chances of this accident occurring could have been reduced significantly if the traffic sign was in place and the white lines were visible clearly.

Three days later Tshidiso Tlharipe along with Tshidido Mooketsi Snr from the Service Delivery Unit at the municipality met with the Herald at that corner to investigate if anything has been done since.

The Herald was pleasantly surprised to see a new stop sign on this corner and also at Mooketsi reporting that the sign and lines on the road will be painted clearly soon.
