Fit Stop gets fit for summer

Two competitions, five winners the search was on to find the fittest and the most defined.

Fit Stop gym flexed their muscles for the coming summer three young men from Randfontein were chosen as the strongest and most defined in town.

The gym hosted a fun day for the community and had a 5km fun walk, a three hour aerobics marathon and a fitness and body building contest.

Owner, Mark Hey said the day was such a great success that he would like to have more of these kind of competitions in future.

When the Herald arrived the body building contest was already in full swing and rippling muscles were on display for all to see.

The winners of the bodybuilding contest were:

• Gomolemo ‘Gomza’ Rakwena – first place

• Justin du Toit – second place

• Nazali Simphambo – third place

Nazali Simphambo came third, Gomolemo 'Gomza' Rakwena came first and Justin du Toit came second.
Nazali Simphambo came third, Gomolemo ‘Gomza’ Rakwena came first and Justin du Toit came second.

Gomza is also the South African K1 kickboxing champion who had a chance to display his muscles. Gomza is only 18-years-old. Justin is also 18-years-old but has a bigger build than Gomza.

It was surprising to see Justin excelling in the fitness contest. Someone that big would not ordinarily do well with body weight exercises but he did excellently,” Hey said.

Simphambo was the youngest of the three winners, he is only 15-years-old but has a chiseled body. He is one of Hey’s kickboxers.

He has the same build as Nathi (Nathi The Tiger Ximba) had; short with huge legs,” Hey said.

The aerobics marathon on the other hand seemed excruciating. Sweat poured from participants. Men and women alike were huffing and puffing but the instructor was having none of it but the group managed to stay strong and a best male and woman participant was selected.

Best male and female participant:

• Lesego Lebona (best female)

• Itumeleng Tlhale (best male)
