R’fontein dancers represent at festival

Two R'fonein dancers show their Latin American flare and win.

Rhythm in Us had their annual dance festival at Silverstar and 330 dancers from far and wide participated in this auspicious event.

Dancers not only showed off their moves on the floor but also dazzled the crowed with their stylish outfits. Open shirts, high heels, sequins and flowing fabric were the order of the day.

Women in the competition put on quite the show and were swung, tossed, dipped and spun skilfully by their partners. Spectators whipped out their phones to take videos and photos of the dancers in action.

The festival had both ballroom and Latin American dance categories. In the ballroom section there were waltz, tango, Viennese waltz, slow foxtrot and quickstep. The Latin American category featured the samba, cha-cha, rumba, paso doble, and jive.

Randfontein dancers showed their Latin American flare and evidently blew the judges away. Subsequently, two dancers from the Rhythm in Us Dance Studio won in this section of the competition. The judges were mostly South African but had one English judge who decided Randfontein’s fate.
