Residents receive wheelie bins

Residents gather in all their numbers to collect their wheelie bins.

The Randfontein Local Municipality kept their word by delivering wheelie bins to at least three areas in Randfontein on Saturday.

Residents gathered in all their numbers to collect their wheelie bins from the Randfontein Local Municipality at both handover locations.

According to the ward councillor of the area, Craig Harrison,

the bins cost R200 in total which the municipality subsidises by 50 percent. The R200 serves as a once off payment for in case the bin incurs any damage.”

Residents stood in a queue a good few meters long, so much so, it began to spiral. After residents presented their documentation, they proceeded to take their bins back to their homes. The bins provided by the municipality were spray painted with respective house numbers.

Randfontein Executive Mayor, Mzi Khumalo was seen in municipal worker garb overseeing the event, making sure that everything ran smoothly. MMC of environments, Theresa Kimane as well as the ward councillor for the area, Craig Harrison were also present and were impressed by the turnout.
