Shots fired in failed house robbery

CPF, EPR and police stop house robbers in their tracks.

Two suspected house robbers were arrested following a shoot-out in Homelake on Tuesday night.

According to EPR, a local security company, police and members of the Community Policing Forum (CPF) were busy with their patrols in Greenhills when they noticed a suspicious looking vehicle in Falcon Street. The vehicle is described to be a BMW.

EPR said the police were busy verifying the suspicious vehicle when suspects exited a premises in Falcon Steet. The suspects allegedly opened fire on the police and after a brief shoot-out, the suspects began fleeing the scene.

EPR then also received a panic signal from a client in Falcon Street. According to the client, they allegedly gained access to the home by breaking a large window. EPR says there were four suspects in total of which two were arrested by police.

Captain Appel Ernst, spokesperson for the Randfontein police said,

I can confirm that a shooting occurred in Homelake. Police arrested suspects but there are still suspects wanted by police.”

“A computer that was robbed at the premises was recovered. Well done to the police, CPF, EPR and other local security companies for joining hands in the fight against crime,” EPR general manager, Johan Krogh said.

No injuries were reported as a result of the robbery or shooting as yet.
