iPads for Simunye pupils

I will never have a reaon to fail physics and maths ever – Grade 12 pupil.

About 148 Grade 12 pupils from TM Letlhake Secondary School in the Simunye Township were handed iPad tablets on Monday 27 July.

The tablets were sponsored by the Gauteng Department of Education and the West Rand Head of Department – an initiative that will empower pupils with technological skills. Those who came to witness this milestone achievement were parents of the beneficiaries and school governing body members.

Norman Nkhoma, the school principal said,

I am so thrilled and pleased by this handover. It’s an honour for us and I think this certainly will assist pupils in improving their matric results.”

Councillor Nontombi Dyase added, “Committed teachers and dedicated pupils are a beacon of hope in our country. Education is at the core of our government’s strategy for improving the lives of all our people. It is an instrument for achieving meaningful development.”

Dyase further announced that government including the Westonaria Local Municipality is committed to investing in the future of young South Africans, especially those from disadvantaged communities.

Pupils at the school said the new devices would make learning more exciting.

Many never have owned a computer, let alone a tablet.

I do not think I ever will miss a day of school again, and I never will have a reason to fail physics and maths ever,” said Mihle Nzima, a Grade 12 pupil from the school.
