W’aria police clean up for Mandela

‘When people come to report crimes, they need to come to a clean police station’ – Police.

Warrant officers, constables, captains and sergeants from Westonaria Police Station grabbed feather dusters, mops and wash rags to clean their police station for Mandela Day.

Sergeant Audrey Safara from the Social Crime Unit said the police station was cleaned but they focused on the Community Service Centre (CSC) as that is where officers deal with the public.

“When people come to report crimes, they need to come to a clean police station,” Audrey said.

The clean-up began on Friday (17 July), the day before Mandela Day and the entire police station got involved. It was not just an everyday clean-up – walls were scrubbed, windows were washed and hard-to-reach places were dusted.

At a certain point that morning, the Herald joined in the police’s cleaning mission and wiped down a few window panes and mopped a portion of the CSC.
