Armed robbers target supermarket

Suspects demanded cash and took numerous items of value — police.

Police are investigating another serious case of armed robbery after three armed men had targeted a supermarket in Finsbury at around 4pm on Friday 19 June.

According to Captain Appel Ernst, spokesperson for the Randfontein Police, “It is alleged the 34-year-old shopkeeper was busy in the shop when three unknown suspects entered.

“All the suspects were armed and two of them pointed their guns at the victim. The suspects then demanded cash and they also took numerous items of value from the shop.

“The suspects left the scene on foot. No shots were fired and no serious injuries were sustained during the robbery.”

The investigating officer, Warrant Officer Thabiso Duiker requested members of the public who might have witnessed the incident or had seen the suspects fleeing to contact him on 011 278 8100.
