Murdered girl, 5, laid to rest

'How can someone be capable of such a terrible thing?' — Municipal Speaker

Keandre Louw, 5, who was allegedly murdered by her father in Aureus last week was laid to rest in the Toekomsrus cemetery on Thursday.

According to Louw’s neighbor, Fazil Bhana, the father was involved heavily in drugs, specifically Tik (methamphetamine).

According to Captain Appel Ernst, spokesperson for the Randfontein police, the father allegedly tried to commit suicide after the murder.

The funeral was sponsored by members of the Toekomsrus community. Nearly 100 people gathered to support the family when Louw was finally put into the ground. Ironically, Louw was laid to rest two days after national Youth Day.

An appearance was made by dignitaries from the Randfontein Local Municipality. Speaker Brenda Mahuma said a few heartfelt words to the community and to the family and showed her disdain at such an incident.

Mahuma put to the community, “how can someone be capable of such a terrible thing?”

In addition to the speaker being there, Solly May from COPE also attended the funeral to show his support for the family and by extension the community at large.
