Shop owner, 54, held at gunpoint

Spaza shop targeted, suspects flee with numerous items.

A spaza shop owner escaped with his life when three suspects targeted his shop in the early hours of Monday 4 May.

Randfontein Police spokesperson Captain Appel Ernst confirmed, “The owner, aged 54, fell victim to armed robbers that day.

“It is alleged that the suspects posed as potential customers, but forced the owner to give them access to his place. When the victim opened the door, the three unknown suspects overpowered him and pointed him with a firearm.

“The suspects took numerous items from the spaza shop and then fled the scene. The victim was not hurt during the incident.”

Warrant Officer Karen Nel is investigating the case and would appreciate any information regarding the incident and the tracing of the suspects.
