Father, daughter killed in car crash
Western area accident leaves two dead one injured.
A father and his seven year old daughter died while the mother was in a serious condition after their vehicle overturned along Lombard Road in Western Area over the weekend.
According to Netcare 911 spokesperson Chris Botha “A report from the scene indicates that the vehicle overturned at around 3am on Saturday but was only spotted in the veld by a passing security vehicle just before 7am.
“Paramedics and the Western Area fire services arrived at the scene and found that the crumpled remains of the vehicle had come to rest in the veldt about 100 meters from the roadway. The three occupants mother, father and a girl about seven had been ejected from the wreckage as it tumbled through the veldt.
“After triaging, the medics found that the patient must have been lying in the grass for some time as their clothes were covered in frost. Tragically, the father and his daughter died before our arrival due to the extensive injuries that they sustained.
“The mother was in a serious condition and was transported to hospital under the constant care of a provincial services paramedic for the critical intervention that she required.”
