Largest pothole in Randfontein being fixed

‘Local business fixing Randfontein’s largest pothole’.

What appears to be Randfontein’s largest pothole is in the making of finally being fixed but, not by the municipality.

According to Craig Harrison, Democratic Alliance (DA) Ward 7 Councillor, “I have emails that date back to 2012 sent to the municipality for this pothole or rather collection of potholes to be fixed.”

Harrison stands in the middle of the stone and dirt section of the road that had been cut out in order to be replaced and explains that he has been fighting for years to get the collection of potholes fixed.

“I’m glad that the pothole is being fixed but it is not being fixed by the municipality. A local business decided to pitch in and fix the hole.

“There is a school a few meters away from this. Can you imagine if a pedestrian child gets hurt as a result of this pothole? What about parents and residents who drive this road every day who could cause an accident because of these potholes?” he asks.

The entire intersection of Angelier and Lelie Street in Riebeeck has been lifted and paving stones line the outskirts of the hole. The entire intersection all the way from the Angelier and Lelie intersection to Aster Street has been cordoned off with red and white danger tape.
