Easter Sunday murder: Victim shot dead in front of son
Family confirms funeral arrangements for Marius du Toit.
Randfontein Police confirmed the Culemborg Park house robbery that took place on Easter Sunday (5 April) at approximately 3am where a 48-year-old man was shot dead.
According to Captain Appel Ernst, spokesperson for the Randfontein Police, “A family in Culemborg Park was overpowered by armed suspects. It is alleged that four suspects gained entry to the house by breaking the burglar proof at a window. During this crime, the suspects allegedly shot a 48-year-old man, fatally wounding him,” said Ernst.
She continues to say that the 48-year-old man’s brother-in-law was also injured as he was stabbed during the robbery.
“The suspect then fled the scene. The family is severely traumatised,” she concludes.
According to Gerda Havenga, wife of 48-year-old deceased, Marius du Toit, “He was shot in front of his 15-year-old son.”
Du Toit’s wife describes his as being out going and having many friends, from this it is clear that he will be missed by many.
His funeral will be held on Tuesday at 2pm at the Maranatha Service Centre Plot 37 in Sixth Street Middelvlei.
