One killed, two injured in Potch accident
'Male driver was found trapped in one of the vehicles'.
A man was killed and two others injured on Sunday night when three vehicles collided on the N12 near Klipdrift in Potchefstroom.
According to ER 24s Russel Meiring “Paramedics from the Potchefstroom branch arrived on scene and found the three vehicles in the middle of the road.
“On inspection, paramedics found that the male driver of the one of the vehicles lay trapped and had sustained fatal injuries. Unfortunately nothing more could be done for the patient.
“Two other patients were found on scene with moderate injuries. Paramedics treated the patients and provided them with advanced life support.
“Once treated, paramedics transported the patients to Mediclinic Potchefstroom for further treatment.
“The cause of the collision is not yet known but local authorities were on scene for further investigations.”
In a separate accident that day, traffic was severely affected on the N12 approximately 25km from Potchefstroom after three vehicles were involved in a crash.
According to Netcare 911 spokesperson Santi Steinmann “Paramedics and other services arrived at the scene and found the entire roadway scattered with accident debris after two motor vehicles collided head-on and a third vehicle then crashed into the primary accident scene.
“Upon assessment of the occupants they found that two people sustained serious injuries and four people sustained minor to moderate injuries.
“The injured patients were treated at the scene and transported to hospital for further medical care.
“Exact detail surrounding the cause of the accident and preceding events will remain the subject of a police investigation.”
