To be or not to be a cop? That is the question

Local police hosts career day.

Randfontein police took a day off from fighting crime recently to tend to possible job seekers looking at joining the police one day.

The information session was held at the local office of the Department of Labour. Police officers addressed aspiring police officers with regard to options available to them.

A total of 175 potential job seekers and school leavers attended the information session.

Further Education Training (FET) colleges also was part of the exhibition and all potential police officers were assisted to register on the ESSA, a database at the Department of Labour.

The career exhibition was informative and a way for Randfontein police to give back to the community. It aimed to encourage the youth of Randfontein to consider exploring careers in the SAPS.

Youth who attend were encouraged to ask questions regarding their intended career choices.

This initiative was brought about through Mpumi Mathibe, a career counsellor at the Department of Labour.

According to Captain Appel Ernst, Randfontein Police spokesperson, “Feedback from participants were very positive and this initiative most certainly will become an annual event.”
