Fuel truck jack-knifes on R28

Truck tries to brake at robot but jack-knifes instead.

There was some panic when a fuel truck jack-knifed on the R28 on Saturday at approximately 3pm outside the West Village entrance in the South Bound lane.

The truck stood in the lane on the curb of the intersection in the South bound lane with the cab all the way to the left side of the body, making it impossible to counter-steer the truck back into normal position.

According to the driver of the Forever Fuels truck, Atwell Marima, “I was driving and then I started to tramp the brakes but the road was slippery. The truck started to swerve – I tried to make it straight but it refused.”

There were no injuries. West Rand Emergency Services were on the scene as well as Mogale Traffic Police as the incident happened on the border of Randfontein and Mogale City.
