Warning: female crooks armed and dangerous

'There were two incidents involving the group targeting women' — police.

The Randfontein Police warns about a new crime trend involving a group of criminals believed to be women operating in the CBD.

Captain Appel Ernst, spokesperson for the Randfontein Police said, “During the past week, two incidents of armed robbery in the CBD were reported. One happened in Main Reef Road and the other at the Village Square Mall. These crimes occurred during the day and did not seem to attract the attention of pedestrians passing by.

“The victims of both robberies were women who were confronted by the group of two or three women.

“One of the suspects was armed with a firearm. The group robs the victim of valuables such as cash and cellphones.

“In one of the incidents a woman’s handbag was taken.

“We warn female shoppers in the Randfontein CBD to be vigilant to prevent this crime of occurring again.”
