Azaadville matrics make school proud

Class of 2014 from Ahmed Timol Secondary School achieve 96,1 per cent pass rate.

The class of 2014 like the classes before them have made the principal of Ahmed Timol Secondary School in Azaadville proud having achieved a 96,1 per cent pass rate.

“With a 7 per cent increase in bachelors passes achieved and a definite shift from ‘certificate’ to ‘diploma’ is keeping with our aims for an improvement in the quantity and quality of our results,” the principal, DN Juta said.

“Added to this pupils who attained multiple A’s is the cherry on the top.”

A total of seven candidates attained A percentages namely Unathi Themba (90.75 per cent); Qhawe Ndlovu (89.29 per cent); Muhammad Moosa (88.88 per cent); Saeed Moola (85 per cent) Naailah Ahmed (84.71 per cent), Yaseera Khan (82.57 per cent) and Muniera Mehtar (80.57 per cent).

Muhammad and Unathi snatched eight A’s each with one of Unathi’s a’s being the IEB’s Advanced mathematics while Saeed and Qhawe each obtained seven A’s .Naailah managed five A’s and 2 B’s while Yaseera and Muniera both obtained 4 A’s and 3 B’s each. There were many others with multiple distinctions.

“Unathi and Qhawe have to be further commended for their outstanding service to their fellow pupils”, M Khan and deputy principal said.

“They took it upon themselves to help their friends with Math and Science for the past two years,” he added.

The principal thanked educators, parents, the School Governing Body (SGB) and all pupils who worked hard as a collective to maintain the high standards at Ahmed Timol Secondary.

“Involvement of all stakeholders is key to success. Parents, pupils and educators. This coupled with good strategy at school and at home and the hard work by pupils is sure to produce great results,” he added.

His message for the class of 2015: “ The class of 2014, like those before them, have left behind a hard act to follow. It us up to you to ‘Seize the moment’ and up raise the bar even further.”
