The two most important milestones for parents as far as school is concerned, are

1. watching your child start Grade one
2. watching your child leave school as a proud matric pupil

As of 6 January thousands of parents will watch their sons and daughters being free to do whatever they want to with their future. But will they choose wisely?
Do they take a gap-year, go straight into the varsity setup or stay at home and help mom around the house?

Some argue that taking a gap year is not a good idea, especially if it is funded by the teens’ parents as those fresh out of school could become lazy and more vulnerable to getting involved in the bad things in life. Others say the gap year is a brilliant idea and is an opportunity to spread their wings and experiment with life as (almost) an adult.

Others believe in going to varsity as soon as possible and getting it out of the way.
One thing is for sure, Class of 2014, it ain’t going to be easy.

Good luck.
