Carryou carries on caring

Funding from the Gauteng Department of Health has helped Carryou Ministries to embark on a mobile testing and health screening program.

Carryou Ministry recently received funding from the Department of Health to embark on a programme of mobile testing and health screening that will eventually help save lives in the Randfontein area.

Carryou Ministry cares for orphans, vulnerable children and sick people in Randfontein and surrounding rural areas.

Their work in prevention and treatment of HIV/AIDS, as well as counselling at various clinics has made a huge difference in the lives of many people. Their aim is to give patients hope for the future and to remove the damning stigma they experience in their communities.

“We visit factories and communities where trained team members test for HIV, diabetes and hypertension. In addition, a sister from the clinic does pap smears,” Mzi Tshikitsha, manager of the programme said.

“Last month 1 170 people were tested. The initiative has been immensely successful and well-supported. Bringing services right to the people makes it much more convenient and quicker than having to go to a clinic.” Mzi added.

The current programme is scheduled to run until the end of March 2015.
