Community to march at Titus’ court case

The three suspects will appear in court on 25 November.

The community of Mohlakeng plans to march outside the Randfontein Magistrates’ Court next week Tuesday (25 November) when Titus’ alleged kidnappers are to appear for their bail hearing.

Police has confirmed that Titus was kidnapped, assaulted and killed in October. Community members believe that one man was responsible for the crime with the help of two henchmen.

The community has vandalised the suspected kidnapper’s home and bakkie. They believe Titus was kidnapped, tortured, bound and pushed in front of a train.

Three men have been arrested and appeared in the Randfontein Magistrates’ Court regarding the kidnapping. The case was postponed to 25 November as more evidence was required.

The men have been charged for kidnapping and assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, however, they have not been charged formally with the murder of Titus. Prosecutors are looking to charge the men with murder. At this point a case of murder will be based mostly on circumstantial evidence.

The case does not have a lot of witnesses, but community members will be called as witnesses to paint a picture of the situation in the community after the crime.
