One injured in rush-hour accident

The driver of a BMW allegedly smashed into the back of another vehicle at a stop sign.

A man was taken to hospital after having sustained minor injuries in an accident that brought traffic to a standstill on Main Road yesterday (25 September).

According to a Randfontein traffic officer at the scene Rebecca Molebeli, this was at the stop street near the Randfontein Traffic Department.

“We are not to certain how the incident occurred but according to information gathered at the scene, both drivers were coming from the direction of Westonaria heading towards Randfontein.

“It is understood that they both were approaching the stop street when the driver of the BMW allegedly failed to apply the brakes and smashed into the driver of the Hyundai in front of him,” says Molebedi.

She adds that the driver of the BMW sustained minor injuries and was taken to a local hospital where he was treated while the driver of the Hyundai is unharmed.
