Randfontein crime stats revealed
Murder has gone down but hijacking has shown an increase.
Crime stats for Randfontein have been released and indicate that murder has gone down in the region.
Police minister announced that murder and other violent crimes had gone up in the country and remain worrisome.
Crimes tabled in the report for the Randfontein Police in a period of ten years (from 2005 to 2014)
Crimes that have shown a decrease:
• Murder has gone down from 42 ten years ago to 34.
• Attempted murder has gone down from 274 to 116.
• Attempted murder has also gone down from 62 to 40.
Crimes that have shown an increase:
• Theft of motor vehicles and motor cycles have gone up from 362 to 382.
• Drug-related crimes have gone up from 76 to 341.
• Car jacking has gone up from 42 to 67 incidents.
