Man shot in face and robbed: Police makes an arrest

Police confirms that one of two suspects was arrested in connection with the shooting.

Police arrested a 34-year-old man suspected of having had a hand in shooting a 55-year-old man twice during an armed robbery recently.

In the incident on 29 August the victim allegedly was shot in the face and leg as he pulled into someone’s driveway. He was transported to a nearby hospital for further treatment. The suspects meanwhile took off with an undisclosed amount of money.

Randfontein Police spokesperson Appel Ernst confirmed, “A suspect was arrested yesterday for a crime that shocked Helikon Park and Randfontein as a whole”.

“We shall release more information and an official statement soon.”

The victim is recovering.
