Murderer gets 25 years behind bars

West Rand District Municipality spokesperson Dennis Mangope says that justice is served for their former colleague.

Justice has been served for the family and friends of the late Ike Genu who was stabbed and killed by his brother in law in September of last year.

This after his killer Vincent Jaoka was sentenced to 25 years in prison.

The verdict was handed down at the Palm Ridge Magistrates Court where his trial was heard.

It is believed that prior to his death, Genu had an argument with Jaoka which resulted in the stabbing.

According to West Rand District Municipality spokesperson Dennis Mangope, Genu was an employee of the department of Public Safety within the District.

“We welcome the sentence imposed on Jaoka and we feel that it is right and just.

“Although we still miss Genu, we feel like a burden has been lifted off our shoulders,” says Mangope, who adds that the District extends its appreciation to the members of the community and other ANC structures which ensured that Jaoka was apprehended.
