A 30-year-old man was stabbed to death and his mother was seriously injured during a fight for their lives at a local tavern.
According to Randfontein SAPS spokesperson Appel Ernst, prior to the victim’s death, a fight had broken out between him and a group of men.
“It is currently unknown as to what started the fight but I can confirm that the man was stabbed to death by suspects” says Ernst.
It is understood that shortly after the incident, the victim’s mother went to the tavern to confront the suspects who attacked her son and that’s when they turned on her and stabbed her in the chest.
“The police and the paramedics were called out to the scene and upon our arrival, the woman was transported to the nearest hospital.
“We carried out investigations at the scene which led to two men aged between 24 and 26 being arrested,” says Ernst who adds that the suspects were found with the deceased’s clothes, covered in blood.
They were both charged with murder and attempted murder and appeared at the Randfontein Magistrates’s Court on Tuesday.
