Middelvlei robbery horror

A Miidelvei father was woken in the middle of the night by his daughter informing him that there was someone in the house.

A local family was robbed in their house in Middelvlei, Randfontein on 12 April.

According Randfontein SAPS spokesperson Captain Appel Ernst, the incident occurred at approximately 3am.

The 49-year-old father was woken up by his 15-year-old daughter and informed that there were people in their house.

The father went to investigate and found two men busy rummaging through cupboards elsewhere in the house.

One of the men allegedly was armed with an axe.

The father confronted the men and a fight broke out between the him and the suspects, resulting in the suspects running away.

“The suspects managed to get away with a cellular phone, some clothing and tolls from the garage,” says Ernst.

“They also tampered with the man’s vehicle and upon closer inspection it was found that some valuables had been taken from it.”

Ernst says that it appears that the suspects gained entry into the premises by breaking down doors.
