Pedestrian killed in R28 accident

The police need your assistance in identifying the deceased.

The Randfontein police are seeking the assistance of the public in identifying a man that was killed in accident when he was hit by a car on the R28 turnoff towards the Zenzele cemetery.

The incident occurred on 29 March at approximately 8pm where a vehicle is believed to have struck the 42-year- old deceased while driving past.

According to Randfontein SAPS spokesperson Captain Appel Ernst, the identity of the deceased is currently unknown.

“Information received at this stage indicates that the man was walking on the abovementioned road when he was hit by a passing car.

“We are currently unclear as to how the incident occurred but I can confirm that the man died instantly owing to the injuries sustained,” says Ernst.

She adds that investigating officer into the case Warrant Officer Pappas Mhlongo would appreciate any information that would shed some light on the incident or the identity of the victim.
