A security guard was shot while patrolling a business premises near Venterspost on 14 March.
The man and a colleague were on patrol when they were spotted two suspicious persons on the premises.
They shouted to the apparent intruders and rushed to intercept them,
According to Randfontein SAPS spokesperson, a fight broke out between the would-be robbers and the security guards.
The security guards managed to chase the robbers off, but one of the suspects produced a firearm and wounded one of the guards in the upper thigh.
“Paramedics were called out to the scene and the injured man was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
