A fetus of an approximately 5-month-old baby was found at an illegal dumping site in Mohlakeng on 12 March at approximately 6pm
This was on the corner of Sandile and Motsumi Street.
According to an eyewitness at the scene, the fetus was discovered by vagrants who were possibly collecting rubbish for recycling
The baby was hidden under a heap of rubbish.
The Herald has spoken to Randfontein SAPS spokesperson Captain Appel Ernst who confirms the incident.
“Upon our officer’s arrival at the scene, they were pointed to the fetus which was later removed by the relevant authorities.
“We have since opened a case of concealment of birth which is currently under investigation,” says Ernst.
