Man burns down girlfriend’s room

This follows a domestic dispute between the two.

A dispute between a 19-year-old woman and her boyfriend broke out which left her homeless after her lover burned down her rented Hillside room.

This was on 27 October in Hillside and it is believed that prior to the torching of the room which they both shared, the boyfriend (28) threatened her during a domestic dispute they had earlier during the day.

He left the room shortly after the dispute and returned later and set it alight.

According to Randfontein SAPS spokesperson Captain Appel Ernst, the woman was not at the residence when the incident occurred.

“She received a phone call from one of the neighbours instructing her to rush home.

“Upon arrival, she was surprised to find that the entire room in flames,” says Ernst.

She adds that the woman lost all her belongings in the fire but fortunately no injuries were sustained.

Her lover was arrested shortly after the incident and taken to the Randfontein holding cells.

Randfontein SAPS investigating officer Seargent Freddy Mokone is investigating the case and can be contacted on 011 278 8100 for any enquiries.
